Summary: Formerly a roundabout primarily centered around car travel, it was converted in 2013 by French architecture firm TV.
The transformation included closing off the entire plaza to cars, as well as closing off the northeast edge of the plaza to cars. This has created the largest pedestrian square in Paris, and is often the focal point of protests and other events in Paris. Date: 2013
